Biodegradable Glitter

We have seen a recent trend for festival style weddings, with more focus on entertainment and less formality than traditional weddings. Think food trucks, hay bales, wild flowers, tipis, glamping and….glitter stations. Turn up to any festival now and you will see people adorned in glitter so why not bring the same to your wedding! It’s a surefire way to get everyone in the party spirit and makes for some great photos.

The problem with glitter is it’s a microplastic, or in other words small shards of plastic which can be dangerous to animals when eaten. As we are all becoming increasingly conscious of our impact on the environment, the demand for alternatives is increasing. Things are changing at a rapid pace. A ban on the production of microbeads was introduced earlier this year, after we discovered the devastating impact of plastic on the environment and many of us are now avoiding single use plastic by carrying shopping bags and using reusable coffee cups and paper straws. Luckily, there is now an alternative for glitter too; eco or biodegradable glitter.

We've researched the best options. Take a look and perhaps you will be inspired to create a DIY glitter station of your own for your wedding.
